Summer of 2009 - is here!



Do you see the roads lined with multi-multi-storeyed apartments built by erstwhile co-operative societies?


Do you have to pay 5000-6000 bucks a month for sharing a teeny-weeny room with 3 other people?


Do you see cockroaches running on cement fake-looking non-tar roads?


Everytime you dry your clothes outside, are they covered with some pigeon shit? Actually, you might feel pigeons from all over India flew in to this place. Such is their sheer population in this city!


Are you always pleasantly surprised to find friendly taxi-drivers ready to take you very safely to your home (or rather your sleeping place) at 3.30 am at almost normal rates?


Do normal simple idlies and dosas suddenly seem to cost almost twice they cost you elsewhere in India?


And finally, has it been extremely difficult for you to get a new prepaid mobile connection while getting a postpaid connection is much simpler and hassle-free?
Of course, you must be in Bombay (or Mumbai, though I dont like that) And thats where I am till the end of May basking (euphemism for 'getting burnt') in the summer of 2009!

bombay:)wow..i love the place...except for the traffics though...double decker buses, pegions, completely residential areas, joggers parks, aerodrome roads, vada pav, pani puri etc..the list is endless..i just love the place..though not to stay forever, jsut to visit will do:)

Schooling at Vikaasa!

Vikaasa , - the best place on earth, perhaps next to home. My memories of my school always offer deep solace whenever I'm down and help me move ahead in life. I would always love to go back to school and bask in the warmth of its campus. The coolest thing about school was that we always worked as a family and were extremely passionate about anything associated with the school. I made some really nice friends at school and would always like to keep in touch with anyone even remotely associated with my school. Our annual trips to Ambas vikaasa are just unforgettable. I've been to ambas fiesta every yeat right from Class 4 till Class 10. The Madura Club at Ambas is just fabulous. The otherwise sober Ambas(amudram) used to wear a festive look for 3 days and one might even mistake it for a school in Chennai. Bangalore - Is it overhyped?!

Have you ever seen people eating idly with 2 spoons?..No?..Welcome to Bangalore. Even the slightly decent eateries here offer a spoon with every dish served, even for a dosa. Now, are we still in India? ..Very much indeed, in the IT capital of the nation. Being a relatively newcomer here, I really am unaware of when exactly this practice of eating SouthIndian dishes with Western cutlery originated. Initially, I used to put the spoons away and eat with my fingers but oh, I turn around and see every other person(even an octagenarian couple)cutting(!) their idlies with spoons. This is not the only thing with this city. Everything about the place is overhyped. Simplicity and thriftness are just shown the backdoor anywhere you go. I must mention the public transport rates in this context. A normal bus ticket(normal, because there are deluxe buses) for an approximately 6km distance costs Rs.10.
