A Peek into December

Is there something called writer's block? You call yourself a writer? Really? It's ok, I can afford at least some attitude! Why did my blog take such a long break? Laziness, & that's just it :)

This is no new year resolution. I don't proclaim to blog too punctually, but I really think it feels purgatory to write once in a while. [anything other than office emails, facebook chats, random notes of phone numbers etc]. Do we really really write anything else these days?

Am reminded of the long lost tradition of pen pals from the past. Gokulam, an English magazine, used to carry this feature called Pen pals with names & addresses of people [kids :)] who were willing to make friends through letters. I distinctly remember writing to someone during one of the summer holidays. Don't ask me if I received any replies. Did you have pen pals (not pen(n)) as kids?

Digressing again, the city is celebrating the holiday season! There's always a drizzle in the air & it's a great time to play rain shuttle or catch up with friends over tea & snacks for crazy long chats! Am really missing the Margazhi season sitting here - trying very hard to follow concerts vicariously online. But, it's just not the same feeling. Waiting for Abhishek's MMU concert on Jan 2nd, it's going to rock for sure :)

Separately - K & C have been holidaying in the Swiss & am waiting to hear their stories when they're back. Meanwhile, Kr here keeps me happy & busy with her antics. Now, that's quite a peek into my December. Will be back soon!

Schooling at Vikaasa!

Vikaasa , - the best place on earth, perhaps next to home. My memories of my school always offer deep solace whenever I'm down and help me move ahead in life. I would always love to go back to school and bask in the warmth of its campus. The coolest thing about school was that we always worked as a family and were extremely passionate about anything associated with the school. I made some really nice friends at school and would always like to keep in touch with anyone even remotely associated with my school. Our annual trips to Ambas vikaasa are just unforgettable. I've been to ambas fiesta every yeat right from Class 4 till Class 10. The Madura Club at Ambas is just fabulous. The otherwise sober Ambas(amudram) used to wear a festive look for 3 days and one might even mistake it for a school in Chennai. Bangalore - Is it overhyped?!

Have you ever seen people eating idly with 2 spoons?..No?..Welcome to Bangalore. Even the slightly decent eateries here offer a spoon with every dish served, even for a dosa. Now, are we still in India? ..Very much indeed, in the IT capital of the nation. Being a relatively newcomer here, I really am unaware of when exactly this practice of eating SouthIndian dishes with Western cutlery originated. Initially, I used to put the spoons away and eat with my fingers but oh, I turn around and see every other person(even an octagenarian couple)cutting(!) their idlies with spoons. This is not the only thing with this city. Everything about the place is overhyped. Simplicity and thriftness are just shown the backdoor anywhere you go. I must mention the public transport rates in this context. A normal bus ticket(normal, because there are deluxe buses) for an approximately 6km distance costs Rs.10.
